Can you tell us about yourself?
My name is Kayla Nelson. I’m 11 years old, I attend MacFarland Middle School. I have been in DC SCORES since I was 11 years old. When I grow up I want to be a singer, an actor, and a poet.

What are your hobbies?
Poetry, basketball, soccer, drawing, poetry, song writing.

When did you write your first poem? How did it make you feel?
I wrote my first poem when I was 7. It made me feel good because it was for Black History Month.

Who is your favorite poet?
My favorite poet is Asher because I like their poems.

What do you love most about performing your poetry?
I like that people get to hear my poetry and enjoy it.
